Spend Limits have arrived: Everything you need to know

At tombola, safer gambling and our players’ experience are at the core of our values. That's why we're happy to introduce a fresh approach to Deposit Limits, designed to give you even more control over your spending.

Previously, you set a cap on how much you deposit each day, week or month. This is called a personal Deposit Limit. We also set sitewide Deposit Limits AND sitewide Net Deposit Limits. We know many of you find this confusing, so we’ve made it much simpler.

What’s changing?

Instead of setting limits based on how much you deposit, we'll calculate them based on your net spend (deposits - withdrawals).

This is called a Spend Limit.

How does it work?

Let's run through an example using our imaginary player 'TommyBola.' They have a £50 personal Deposit Limit per week. Once 'TommyBola' deposits £50, with their current limit they can’t deposit more until the following week, regardless of any withdrawals.

Now let's run through that with the new Spend Limits:

A jar with 5 coins, and a note that the maximum Spend Limit is £250 per week

1. ‘TommyBola’ deposits £20 and now has £30 left of their £50 per week Spend Limit.

(£50 limit - £20 deposit = £30 remaining spend)

£50 Spend Limit shown as 5 coins. 2 of the coins are moved into the jar

2. ‘TommyBola’ wins £10 on bingoLite – well done Winner!

'TommyBola' then decides to withdraw their £10 winnings.

A pile of 4 coins alongside a jar with 1 coin left inside. 1 coin has been removed from the jar following a £10 withdrawal

3. Now 'TommyBola' can deposit up to £40 this week before reaching their limit.

(£50 limit - £20 deposit + £10 withdrawal = £40 remaining spend)

A jar with 5 coins inside to show a player reaching their £50 per week Spend Limit

What does this mean for existing Deposit Limits?

We have automatically switched all Deposit Limits over to our new Spend Limits so you don't need to do anything! There are a few key points to remember though:

  • sitewide Net Deposit Limit of £250 per week/£1250 per month applies to all players.
  • You can set a maximum Spend Limit of £250 per day/week or £1250 per month.
  • Spend Limits can still be locked in place for up to 12 months, ensuring you stay within your budget.
  • Any existing or pending Deposit Limits exceeding £250 per day/week or £1250 per month have been adjusted in line with the new maximum Spend Limits.
